Garlic

Lovely ,lovely cloves of awesomeness..

Our garlic has been lifted, and it  has been maturing (as in drying in a cool dark cupboard) and it has been working hard to develop that gorgeous organic garlic flavour. God, i love the stuff. I just have to remember not to use it all, so i have some left for planting again in April..

Fish Fingers

I have been doing a heck of a lot of cooking lately, so tonight i'm doing fish fingers..sorry Less dishes and less mess is my motive.I know there is probably no good nutritional value in them. Maybe i'll buy sea shanty's instead. At least they have peas and corn in them !!
THis is what i made last night. A bit of a veg lasagne, but with only zucchini and cauliflower.

I just thinnly sliced the vegies(with one of those plastic slicers you can get at the asian grocers), then layered with fresh lasagne sheets, tinned tomatoes and grated cheese. I topped it with ricotta and yoghurt(because that's what i had in fridge) and more cheese and baked it in a 180 degree oven till brown and bubbling cheesiness...

Skin Care

I dont know about you, but i'm getting old..This I notice, when it's really hot or really cold. The extremes in temperature make your skin look pretty shabby, and when you are on the wrong side of forty, it's even worse. It's smack bang in the middle of Summer, and as much as i try to stay out of the sun, it still sneaks in.
So, for my skin  i've been making a scrub, and pretending i'm in a luxurious day spa(maybe in Bali or Thailand, if i light some insence).
And slough (i think that is a word)away, i go...it's good for lifting off flaky dry skin and it's moisturizing too
I mix coconut oil and salt in my hands then scrub  over my arms and legs, elbows and knees. Rinse off in the shower... Probably best to do this whilst standing in the shower or bath, or you'll be vacuuming up a salty mess..
It's also cheap and it's natural..

Ripenings

We grew raspberries and loganberries. Our kids mostly ate them off the bush, some were used for a pavlova on Christmas night. Our blueberries have been great this year. Now, i'm just waiting for the peaches to ripen

Pumpkin Spelt Bread

I'm always believing what i'm reading and lately i've been reading a lot about alternate flours and sugars. For this particular post, i will be talking about what i've read about Spelt. Just read that back ,and it sounds like a tongue-twister. Sorry (that's if anyone out there is reading this).
So, it's an ancient Iranian grain, it's high in protein , it's got heaps of vitamins and minerals, and apparently it's easier for the body to digest than other wheat breads.
Also, for the chemical free organic people, because of it's super strong husk, there hasn't been the use of pesticides. The bugs cant get in to infest the grain. Yay.
Well, i should make some bread.
I did.
Pumpkin and Sunflower Spelt Bread.
