Mixing Bowls

I have been collecting kitchen bits and pieces from the 60's and 70's for a while. I love the look of them and their functionality. They also remind me of my Gran. I have lots of good memories of helping her do some baking in her little kitchen. She taught me the little song, Patty Cake Patty Cake, Baker Man, make me a cake as fast as you can..i think that is how it goes.

These Hoffman Pottery bowls are so lovely. I found two last week, and i was wrapped to spot them in our local op-shop.. The Hoffman company operated out of Melbourne, Brunswick, to be exact. Buy Local !

Pickled Beetroot

i think i underestimated vinegar quantities. Didn't quite make enough liquid. Oh well, first attempt..

a recipe, i kind of followed. I did sweeten it up with a bit of honey.

Beetroot, figs and Hydrangas..

I'm picking and pulling out the last of our summer fruit and vegies, although there is still plenty of tomatoes left. I'm also on the lookout for jars as this week i will be making tomato and chilli chutney. i will be checking the local opshops, they usually have a good stash.
