Waste not, Want not...

I dont throw much out. Things are recycled where i can, food scraps are divided up amongst the chooks, dog, cat, horse and compost..Ive started collecting fat from roasts and boiling chicken stock, then use it to fry up home-made chips.
And ive just come up with something to do with a left-over BBQ chicken carcass. You know the ones u buy from the supermarket, already cooked. Our supermarket does a delicious one, so there is never much left, but i can still get some stock out of it. I put in a pot ( take the stuffing out) , then put in the aromatics. This time, i made an asian one, so i put in lemon-grass, kaffir lime, ginger and garlic and galangal. I simmered it for an hour or so, and im left with a beautiful rich chicken stock, full of flavour.
You could do a traditional one with carrot, celery onion bayleaf and peppercorns..
These are from my garden..

Busy but Slow

Love slow times, when times just unfold into great moments. But life is busy, that's the way it is. I havent done much of this blogging lately, i still love blogs but my spare moments are scarce. We have some school holidays soon. I will be finishing our bathroom and painting bedrooms, and having some fun with my kids..

Winter and washing

It's pretty boring around here at the moment. Just plugging away at the bathroom grouting, a bit of garden maintenance, washing ,washing and more washing. The bloody washing never ends ! Id put a photo up of my massive pile, but i know every mum has theses gigantic mounds in their homes, who wants to see more.  Part and parcel, or whatever they say,  , comes with the job, mmmmm.
So, when i can get myself away from the washing machine, i'm taking photos of my growings..
