My grandparents were using the three R's ( recycle, reduce and reuse ) way before it became the movement that it is today. Probably out of necessity as there wasn't a lot of money going around in those days and they didn't have all the cheap imports from China that are everywhere now. They would  make firebricks out of  strips of newspaper , made into a pulp with water,compacted into bricks,then dried out, to use for their little woodheater.
Grandma also crotched items out of plastic breadbags. Cut into strips they would become hats and carrybaskets. How lucky am I to have this beauty I. I think it must be 30 years old.
