A bit over a month ago, when leaving our property to do the school drop-off, i found a large wombat dead on the road just in front of our house. Tragic. Then the following morning , to my horror, there was another one.They had been hit by a car. , I had to stop , as i realised that it was a female, they were both females. I felt around in their pouches to see if there was any babies. The pouches were empty. I learnt later that the first wombat , did have a really young baby in it's pouch and a kind lady who lives up the road, rescued it and took it to a local shelter . I felt so bad about these two mothers .I decided to take action. We live on a bend, and i think  cars come around and then dont have time to stop, when they see a wombat in front of them. . W have quite a colony of these creatures around us. I call it Wombat Town.
